The new Dubai AI smart bus station is designed to make moving around the city faster, easier and a lot more connected
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has unveiled the world’s first AI smart bus station at Mall of the Emirates, bringing technology, convenience, and sustainability to everyday commuting. With real-time updates, digital kiosks, and connected services, this new hub is designed to make navigating the city effortless – whether you’re hopping on a bus, Metro, or taxi.

This isn’t your average bus stop. The station uses AI-powered cameras to monitor crowd movement, track occupancy levels and help manage commuter flow in real time. Screens inside the station also show how crowded incoming buses are before they arrive, making rush-hour decisions a little less stressful. Passengers can also check live Metro timings, taxi availability and nearby locations through large digital displays spread across the station.
Everything is digital
One of the biggest changes is how little you actually need to do manually. The station runs on a fully digital system with interactive kiosks, contactless services and a virtual assistant that can help with route planning, Lost and Found queries and customer support. There are also digital nol top-ups, ticket purchasing services and even smart vending machines for drinks and snacks.

Built for Dubai’s future
The station also leans heavily into sustainability. Solar panels help power the site, while smart air-quality sensors continuously monitor conditions inside the station. Despite covering just 147 square metres, the space connects commuters to 11 bus routes across Dubai, including areas like Jumeirah Village Circle, Dubai Science Park, Arabian Ranches and Al Barsha.
The impact
Dubai’s public transport network has been expanding fast, but this feels like a glimpse into where the city is heading next. Less waiting around, more real-time information, and a smoother journey from Metro to bus to taxi – all in one place.
