‘What we are building today is not just a government project, but a model that will inspire the world’ – Sheikh Mohammed
The UAE is set to become the first government in the world to deploy Agentic AI at scale across its public sector, following a major announcement by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The AI shift will reinforce the UAE’s position as a global leader in adopting Agentic AI across government operations.
This week, Sheikh Mohammed attended an Agentic AI retreat where projects and key features were revealed.
Sheikh Mohammed said more than 400 ministers and senior officials are leading efforts to transform 50% of government services and operations through Agentic AI, in line with the vision of UAE President HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the UAE to lead globally in this transition.
Sheikh Mohammed stated, “What we are building today, under the supervision of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed and with the support of our national teams, is not just a government project but a model that will inspire the world. Technology must serve people and enhance quality of life. This remains the UAE’s enduring commitment to future generations.”
The Dubai Ruler shared the first phase has already been launched, covering vital sectors: Procurement, Tax Audit, Customer Happiness, and Technical Support.
The AI system will help streamline procedures, enhance data verification, boost overall speed and efficiency, and more.
On the Customer Happiness front, the AI system will empower service agents with rapid access to vital information, enabling faster, more efficient responses that elevate the customer’s experience and government service quality.
During the session, His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, explained that AI technology is transforming the way governments operate, moving beyond basic task automation and digitisation to enable more proactive systems with advanced capabilities for independent thinking, planning, and execution.
He noted that early adopters of Agentic AI are poised to lead global governance and competitiveness indexes, while governments that fall behind risk facing a widening capability gap.
Further plans will be revealed soon, and we will be keeping our eyes on for the big updates. Stay tuned!
