South African café favourite tashas is growing its UAE footprint again, this time with two new openings in Al Ain and Sharjah this week. The Al Ain branch opens today, May 19, followed by Sharjah on May 20.
For founder and CEO Natasha Sideris, the Al Ain launch turned into a lively celebration. During her visit to the new café, staff members broke into song, singing the South African classic Shosholoza as people clapped along and Natasha smiled from ear to ear. Joining the team, the restaurant quickly filled with laughter, singing and the unmistakable warmth South Africans are known for.

Founded in Johannesburg in 2005, tashas has built a loyal following for its stylish interiors, generous portions and relaxed all-day dining experience. Every branch has its own personality, but the focus always stays the same: beautiful food and spaces that feel welcoming from the moment you walk in.
The new Al Ain café takes inspiration from the city’s calm surroundings. The space has soft neutral tones, handmade details and natural textures, with a bespoke ceiling installation designed specifically for the space. Over in Sharjah’s Aljada development, the interiors pay tribute to the original Atholl café in Johannesburg.

Both cafés serve the tashas Classic Menu. Signature dishes include the St Francis breakfast tortilla with scrambled eggs, chilli and avo, the famous Brioche French Toast. The menu also has favourites like the Texas Salad, Salmon Teriyaki and the Chicken Prego.
With these latest launches, tashas now has eight cafés across the UAE, continuing its steady expansion into community-focused neighbourhoods across the country.
