UAE President Sheikh Mohamed calls for ‘peace and prosperity’ in heartfelt Eid message


“We pray that God bestows his blessings on our nation and grants peace, stability, and prosperity to all.”

UAE President HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed al Nahyan has called for ‘peace, stability, and prosperity’ in an uplifting message shared on the occasion of Eid Al Adha.

Posting to X on Wednesday May 27, Sheikh Mohamed said, “I congratulate my brothers, the Rulers of the Emirates, all those who call the UAE home, and Muslims around the world on the occasion of Eid Al-Adha. We pray that God bestows his blessings on our nation and grants peace, stability, and prosperity to all.”

The message came as UAE residents enjoyed an extended break on the occasion of Eid Al Adha, with private sector employees enjoying four extra days off from May 26 until May 29, while the public sector were given an exteded Eid break of five days, from May 26 until May 29.

Work for all sectors will resume as normal with the working week on Monday, June 1.

What is Eid Al Adha?

According to tradition, Eid Al Adha is held to honour Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son, after being instructed to do so by God. Prophet Ibrahim told his son of the dream, and the son then told his father to follow the order. But God intervened, sending a sheep to take his son’s place.
