Australia has also removed its ‘do not travel’ warning for the UAE
The UK has lifted its travel warning for the UAE, in a move that’s set to be welcome for both residents and tourists. In a circular issued on June 18, the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) confirmed that it no longer advises against all but essential travel to the United Arab Emirates.
The news comes after a peace deal between the US and Iran was signed this week.
The travel warning was also lifted by the FCDO for travel from the UK to Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain.
It’s set to be welcome news for both British residents in the UAE and tourists looking to plan holidays to Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the Northern Emirates, who were unable to get valid travel insurance while the do not travel warning was in place.
The UK isn’t the only country lifting its travel restrictions to the region. On Wednesday, Australia also downgraded its travel advisory from ‘do not travel’ to ‘reconsider your need to travel’ for the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait, per Khaleej Times.
Added peace of mind for travellers
To further give travellers peace of mind as they return to the emirates, the UAE’s biggest airlines, Emirates and Etihad, have both introduced new travel insurance policies.
Emirates
Emirates announced on June 17 that it would be rolling out an industry-first travel insurance product, which includes medical cover for conflict-related incidents, backed by airline-managed hotel accommodation and extended-stay support across a range of disruption scenarios.
Available to customers from Wednesday, June 17, it must be added on at the time of booking, or can be added to your existing booking via the Manage Booking portal. The price is dependent on your home country, as well as how long your trip is and is available to purchase in the following markets:
Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Canada, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Kuwait, Malta, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom.
Etihad
From July 2026, visitors flying with Etihad Airways will automatically receive complimentary medical travel insurance for up to 15 days during their stay in the UAE
The initiative, launched by Etihad Airways in partnership with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) and The National Insurance Company, Daman, will be available from July to December 2026.
The insurance will be automatically included with eligible Etihad tickets, meaning travellers won’t need to fill out any forms or submit a separate application.
